Rost Family Famous Christmas Eve Punch

A frosty, festive punch that has been a Rost family tradition every Christmas Eve (and sometimes New Year’s Eve) in Minnesota. Simply scoop lime sherbet into a punch bowl, pour in clear soda, and stir until a creamy, foamy top forms. Loved by all ages and ready in just 10 minutes — the perfect easy holiday beverage.

Ingredients

  • 2 liters clear soda (7-up, Sprite, Slice, regular or diet)
  • 1 qt lime sherbet
  • 1 can limeade (optional)

Method

  1. Scoop some sherbet into a punch bowl or pitcher.
  2. Add soda. Add limeade if desired. Stir until mixed and you have achieved the desired consistency. You should have a frothy layer on top as shown in the picture.

Notes

We’ve been having difficulty finding lime sherbet in the grocery stores around here. Finally found it during the summer at King Soopers. If you find it, buy it early and save it for the holidays!

Variations
You can also make this beverage with orange sherbet/orangeade, or raspberry sherbet and cran-raspberry juice.
